Our school curriculum is based on the Source of Life and the Australian National Curriculum (AusVELS). The Source of Life is the foundational resource for the teaching of Religious Education across all year levels. VELS provides a set of state-wide standards which is used to plan student learning.
Religious Education invites students and staff to develop a relationship with a loving God in the journey of life. At Holy Rosary, Christian values are the focus of our curriculum, our school and our community. Through Religious Education, we aim to:
- provide students with a high quality and integrated Religious Education program that reflects and compliments Gospel values and the teachings of the Catholic Church
- help our students learn and express the Christian values and behaviours we all cherish
- be inclusive of all students and their respective learning needs
Participation in many aspects of life depends largely on effective communication in Australian Standard English. The knowledge, skills and personal qualities acquired at Holy Rosary enable our students to read, write and speak clearly and confidently, in order for them to be active and informed members of society.
Humanities is the study of human societies and environments, people and their culture, covering the past and present. Studying the Humanities enables students to understand the way in which people and societies have organised their world, with regard to environmental and societal conditions.
Mathematics is essential to effectively participate in society. Holy Rosary develops numeracy capabilities that all students will need in their personal, work and civic life.
At Holy Rosary we believe that the ability to use a language other than English, (LOTE) to understand and/or move between different cultures is important for full participation in the modern world, especially in the context of increasing globalisation and Australia's cultural diversity
Science knowledge assists us to develop understandings about our biological, physical and technological world. At Holy Rosary, we believe that the skills taught in science, support students to explore their world and to problem solve local and global issues.
The Arts are unique, expressive, creative and communicative forms that engage students in critical and creative thinking and help them understand themselves and the world. In every society the Arts play a pivotal role socially, economically and culturally. The Arts encourage the development of skills and the exploration of technologies, forms and processes through single and integrated forms.
Design, Creativity and Technology
At Holy Rosary we believe students can apply imagination, lateral and critical thinking throughout design and development processes; thus giving them the power to wonder, be curious and imaginative.
Information and Communication Technology
Holy Rosary is committed to developing leaders for tomorrow through providing learning opportunities for its students which enable them to adapt to the changes of the 21st century. Through ICT, Holy Rosary gives students the knowledge, skills and behaviours to develop new thinking and learning skills that produce creative and innovative insights.
At Holy Rosary we educate and support our students to become effective and skilful thinkers within our world and the world of the future.
Physical, Personal & Social Learning
Civics & Citizenship
Civics and Citizenship education provides students with knowledge, skills and opportunities to understand and practise what it means to be a citizen in a democracy. It teaches why citizens need a sense of personal identity within their own community and how they can contribute to local, national and global communities.
Health & Physical Education
Holy Rosary is committed to equipping students with the skills and confidence to engage in a healthy and active lifestyle. The Health and Physical Education Program provides students with the knowledge and behaviours to enable them to achieve a degree of autonomy in developing and maintaining their physical, mental, social and emotional health.
Holy Rosary has a responsibility to develop and support children to maintain and manage positive relationships. We are committed to building social relationships and strive to work collaboratively thus working effectively in teams to manage and resolve conflict. It is important for children to develop these skills to be an effective member of the workplace and community.
Education for Personal Learning allows students to develop knowledge about their personal characteristics and capabilities. Personal Learning provides students with skills and behaviours to develop and support their approaches to, and reflections about, learning now and throughout their lives.
